The Lodge at Chaa Creek was founded over 30 years ago by two intrepid travelers who were conquered by the nature and culture of Belize. Slowly, and with love of their adopted home, they turned Chaa Creek into a full fledged Eco Resort, while still maintaining their responsibility to the ecology around them. Under an in house program, 10% of all accommodation revenue goes straight into environmental and social programs, and in supporting Green and community groups.

The Lodge operates on either a Bed and Breakfast basis, which includes a selection of activities for free, or as an all inclusive resort (includes meals, transfers, excursions). The rooms are ecologically friendly - do not expect air-conditioning and refrigerators. Still, there is a simple luxury to their villas, suites and cottages. The rooms are spacious and well appointed, and, most importantly, surround by the rainforest. The lodge is set on a private 365-acre nature reserve along the banks of the Macal River in the foothills of the Maya Mountains. It is home to a number of exotic jungle dwellers including peccaries, jaguar, monkeys and many others as well as over 300 species of tropical and migratory birds.

Travelers give the Lodge at Chaa Creek high marks for service, ecological initiatives and the connection one feels with nature.

Belize is a small, sparsely populated independent nation in Central America. It is the only country in Central America where English is the official spoken language.

Due to it's small population, Belize is a hotspot for eco tourists. It has one of the highest densities of protected areas in all of the Americas, with over 37% of its land being protected in some way. Over 5,000 species of plants can be found as well as hundreds of species of animals including armadillos, snakes, monkeys and jaguars.

Mayan culture dominated the area of Belize from 1,500 BC to 900 AD. Mayan influence can still be seen today and their are a number of important ancient sites located in Belize including Caracol, where it is believed that close to 140,000 people inhabitated.

Chaa Creek offers a lot of flexibility to travelers. You can stay on a Bed and Breakfast basis or opt for all inclusive, which includes food, board, transfers and excursions. If you book Chaa Creek on a B & B basis, you can choose from a wide variety of day tours that can be booked a la carte. Call us or send us an email to discuss all the options.

Transfers from the airport can be arranged for $150 for up to 4 people.
