Place

Torres del Paine is a national park in the Chiliean part of southern patagonia. The park is located 70 miles (112 km) south of Puerto Natales and 194 miles (312 km) from Punta Arenas, the larges city in the region and where most travelers arrive into. The peaks of the Paine Massif, the center piece of the park, reach up to 9,462 ft (2,884 mt). Several different species of wildlife can be found in Torres del Paine including Guanaco, Rheas (a large ostrich like bird), South Andean Deer and Foxes.  The weather is unpredictable and its often possible to experience four seasons in a single day. Especially remarkable is when snow that is produced above the mountains is pushed down to lower altitude, where the temperature is warm enough for a t-shirt. Quite a rare experience.

Eco Camp domes sit on a small hill with an impressive view of the Paine Massif and the towers. From Eco Camp's strategic location within the park, you can explore Torres Del Paine with ease, while returning to a comfortable and ecological sanctuary each evening.

Itinerary

Track

Itinerary

This itinerary is perfect for those wanting to see the main highlights of Torres del Paine. Each day, you will have the opportunity to choose between two different excursions. One excursion will be less demanding and the other will be challenging. The program is set up with flexibility in mind, so you may arrive on any day of the week.

Day-1

Any day of the week

Your transfer from Punta Arenas, Puerto Natales or El Calafate is included in the price. En route, to TDP, you will stop at Puerto Natales for lunch and also visit the Milidon caves.

You will arrive at your private dome at Eco Camp in the evening and join other guests in the community dome for wine and a meal you wouldn't expect in such a desolate place.

Day-2

Monday or Thursday

Easy Option: Hike or Bike to Laguna Azul.
On this excursion you will have the opportunity to see guanaco and perhaps walk among them. You will have lunch at the milky waters of Lake Azul with the Paine Massif and the towers in the distance.

Challenging Option: Hike to the base of Torres
One of the most iconic formations of Torres del Paine, the Torres or towers, are three granite slabs that reach mightily into the sky. The hike is challenging and you will need to do a bit of light scrambling up some rocky areas. If its been raining (which it does a lot), then things can get very slippery. Don't worry, your expert guide has your back.

Day-3

Tuesday or Friday

Easy Option: Drive & Walk Western Lakes, Navigation Glacier Grey
A drive across the park reveals stunning views of the Paine Massif and interesting flora and fauna like the Andean Condor. After arriving at Lago Grey, you will take a boat ride on the icy lake to visit the blue ice of Glacier Grey.

Challenging Option: Drive & Walk Western Lakes, Hike to Cerro Ferrier
You will take a scenic drive across the park, stopping at view points along the way. After reaching Lago Grey, you will continue on foot through a fairly steep route through a Magellanic forest, in hopes of seeing Huemul, the endangered South Andean deer. Your reward is a lookout spot with views of the Paine Massif and Grey Glacier.

Day-4

Wednesday or Saturday

Easy Option: Sarmiento Lake & Fauna Trail
This predominantly flat trek boasts stunning, diverse natural scenery and offers the chance to feast your eyes upon a startlingly blue lake, which is secluded from all the other water systems of the area.

Challenging Option: Navigation Pehoe Lake & hike French Valley
After a scenic boat ride on the beautiful Pehoe Lake, you will make your way into the heart of the Paine Massif. The French Valley is home to stunning views and you will probably see small avalanches taking place on the French Glacier.

Day-5

Sunday

Easy Option: Salto Grande & El Condor Lookout
On this leisured nature walk, you will reach El Condor Lookout and have a view of Lago Pehoe and Paine River below.

Challenging Option: Trek Cerro Paine
You will hike to 1200m / 3937ft to reach the eastern peak of Cerro Paine, which offers an unforgettable lookout of the towers and the ascencio valley.

Accommodation

Eco Camp Patagonia

Torres del Paine National Park

he design premise behind EcoCamp was to create accommodation where travellers could connect with nature and explore Torres del Paine without leaving a footprint. Engineers designed the structures to rely mostly on green energy and EcoCamp has been certified as an ISO14001 property. All electricity comes from a micro-hydro turbine and photovoltaic panels. Skylights in the domes allow for natural light to shine through during the day, saving on lighting and heating costs, and a view to stars at night. Eco Camp also supports the local community. Produce, meat and poultry are bought from local farmers. 90% of their staff is from the region, mostly from neighboring Puerto Natales. Furthermore, they donate every year to the Torres del Paine Legacy fund, that help protect the environment and improve the community and the tourism products of the region.
